Synopsis
Victoria and Albert's courting and subsequent marriage makes one of the greatest love stories. Those who witnessed the sudden reversal of the girl Queen's decision to delay marriage for some years, and to demand the hand of Prince Albert without delay, were amazed at the heat of Victoria's passion, which is confirmed by surviving letters and journal entries. Although they were only together for little more than 20 years, Victoria's attitudes, opinions and conduct were all conditioned by Albert long after his death. This book provides an assessment of a marriage which shaped Britain and the Commonwealth throughout the Victorian period and on into the 20th Century.
