Murder mystery weekends at country hotels are very popular, so popular that Dee and Barry decide to spend a whole week's holiday at one of these events split between two luxurious country manors in the Cotswolds and Malvern areas.
Naturally for them, theatrical murder turns into real-life suspense and eventually death, and sordid details emerge about the lives not only of the guests but the young theatrical players as well.
What have a gentleman farmer, a rich haulage contractor, a wealthy jeweller and a struggling but handsome actor in common? Very little, but perhaps blackmail gives some clues. Why are a beautiful actress and the kind-hearted representative of the travel company also under suspicion in this idyllic and tranquil English countryside setting?
Needless to say, Dee and Barry become involved and undertake some detection of their own. But death stalks the gathering long before the final and unexpected denouement.
