When Emma, an African-American city girl, comes into town and meets Harry, a white farm boy who only knows his rural way of life, the two become fast friends despite the social rules imposed on them; thus when the town barber is put on trial, the two friends are greatly angered by the injustice they see and work together to save him from a terrible fate.
