D0po un'arte tutta meridionale, fatta di tradizioni locali, di derivazioni artistiche vicino e lontane,°di elementi diversi, in somma, ne tutti bene noti, nè tutti bene valutati ancora, dalla Toscana specialmente una corrente di arte, sempre rinnovaniiesi, è venuta e si è fatto strada in Napoli portata dagli stessi ar tisti onde emanava, in sui primi anni del 300. Vi fu Giotto stesso inter familiares di Ro Roberto, e se ancora si vanno cercando le opere sue, non poche certo egli ne fece e non poca scuola dovette qui seguirlo. Nello stesso tempo Giovanni e Pac cio, fiorentini, lavoravano in Santa Chiara al sepolcro sontuoso e solenne che ancora ne adorna il fondo, esempio tra i più gran diosi di scoltura sepolcrale, non in Napoli solo, ma in Italia. Faccio scolpiva, anche nel 1325 le colonne del chiostro di S. Martino tutte forse scomparse mentre Tino, senese, opera'va insieme con-gagliardo Primario napoletano la tomba della re gina Maria in Donnaregina e, sempre insieme con un napole tano, Francesco de Vito, costruiva sul colle afs. Elmo la Cer tosa di S. Martino. Sorgeva per opera di Andrea da Firenze, in fondo alla navata di S. Giovanni a Carbonara, il monumento di Ladislao e, in Donnaregina come da per tutto, schiere di ar tisti dipingevano intere pareti di affreschi ed altri incidèvano per la real zecca ed altri operavano cose minori.
