Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the fascinating world of vertebrate fossils discovered in the siderolithic terrain of the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland, providing valuable insights into the fauna that inhabited the region millions of years ago. The findings, initially presented in a previous publication, are now expanded with the addition of new discoveries, including the introduction of several exciting species. The author meticulously describes the collected specimens, including teeth, jaws, and limb bones. These remains represent a diverse assemblage of animals, ranging from small insectivores to large pachyderms like the Lophiodon. Detailed comparisons with previously identified species help establish the presence of multiple Lophiodon species at this site, further enriching our understanding of their evolutionary history. Additionally, the book offers a comprehensive overview of the Mauremont fauna, providing a snapshot of the complex ecosystem that existed during the Eocene epoch. Through meticulous analysis and comparisons with related species, the author sheds light on the ecological roles and relationships between these ancient creatures. The discoveries presented in this book contribute to our knowledge of vertebrate evolution and the diversity of life that flourished in prehistoric times.
