Si je contreviens aux habitudes reçues, c'est que suis amené par la'nécessité de ne pas répéter, à propos des nombreuses opérations dont ce volume renferme la description et l'appréciation, les considérations générales sur lesquelles je m'appuie pour repousser l'usage de quelques - unes d'entre elles et pour critiquer, quelquefois sévèrement, l'abus qu'on me paraît faire d'un certain nombre.
