Similimum, its defective arrangement is strikingly manifest. Nor is this all, for even when we have decided upon the appropriate remedy, the question Of the dose, or Of the potency best adapted to secure the medicinal effect desired, remains to be considered; for, it is Obvious that the action of a drug will differ, and differ not only in force but in the character of the action as well, in accordance with the potency used.

This book explores the use of different potencies of homeopathic remedies, investigating the relationship between potency and the character of the effect produced. The author finds that the symptoms indicating a remedy might be grouped into two general classes: those resulting from the action of the medicine, most readily relieved by the attenuated remedy; and those which are empirical, curable by the drug action, and which respond best to the lower dilutions of the remedy. The author presents case studies to illustrate the differential effects of potency and concludes that the choice of the potency in the last two classes of remedies, which are the most important, depends upon the location and character of the disease.
