Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book revolves around Pierre Brully, a pivotal figure in the spread of Reformation ideas in the southern Netherlands. The author, a renowned historian, uncovers Brully's life and mission, set against the backdrop of a tumultuous era marked by religious strife. Brully's journey, from his early life to his fateful capture in Tournai, is meticulously reconstructed, shedding light on the challenges faced by early Protestant reformers. The book delves into the complex interplay between religious fervor, political power, and the human cost of dissent. The author explores Brully's beliefs, his encounters with prominent figures like Calvin, and the impact of his preaching on the people of Tournay and beyond. Through a thorough examination of archival documents, the book provides a vivid account of the persecution faced by Brully and his followers, highlighting the brutality and intolerance that characterized the religious struggles of the time. Ultimately, the book offers a poignant reminder of the enduring struggle for religious freedom and the sacrifices made by those who dared to challenge the established order.
