This text focuses on improving business processes by using all the important statistical techniques needed to facilitate effective decision making. The text follows a traditional approach and topic organization that is appropriate for most introductory business statistics courses, but also incorporates a more modern approach that infuses quality and emphasizes process improvement throughout. The authors' highest priority is developing a text that offers clear and understandable explanations of concepts and providing case studies and examples that reflect real applications of statistics today.

From the Publisher:

Infusion of quality and improvement throughout, including two full chapters on quality and one on design of experiments.
Numerous practical case studies (30) and examples that frequently use real data and illustrate real application of concepts. These are often revisited and built upon throughout the text to provide continuity not found in most statistics texts.
Content innovations that should help to make statistics easier for students to understand. These include the use of P values and rejection points in hypothesis testing, strong emphasis on forecasting and regression including modeling, early introduction of confidence intervals, clear coverage of probability and probability distributions and realistic presentation of inferential topics.
Chapter opener photos, over 400 color graphics and printouts from statistical software programs.
