From the Author:
A good book about an amazing black poet and playwright
I knew Owen Dodson for 18 years, and I spent 10 researching and writing his biography, which was published after his death. Recently, 1997, the person of Owen was trashed in a self-serving book by Hilton Als, THE WOMEN. Als indeed was Owen's boy lover for a brief time, but his depiction of his former mentor is an insult to an important Black American writer. Read SORROW IS THE ONLY FAITHFUL ONE if you'd like to know the man, the artist, and not Als's private parts vision of Dodson.
