Nous ne savons guère de leur auteur que ce qu'il en a écrit lui-même. Quelques documents, découverts au cours du dernier siècle, ont tout juste établi ses titres d'authenticité. On place sa naissance vers 1630, près de Rawa, en Mazo vie; sa famille les Pasek de Goslawice provenait du palatinat de Cracovie. Les pre mières pages de ses Mémoires, Où il aurait pu relater ses années d'enfance, ne nous sont pas parvenues.
