Synopsis:
This study of the life and work of the Pre-Raphaelite painter, Burne-Jones, has been thoroughly updated, with revisions to text, illustrations, appendices and bibliography. The book reviews his life as an artist, from his first attempts at illustrations while an Oxford undergraduate, to his contact with Rossetti and William Morris and his influential decorative work. It examines his many contributions in the fields of stained glass, embroidery and tapestry design, furniture decoration, metalwork and book illustration. Martin Harrison is the author of "Victorian Stained Glass" and co-author of "The Naked Eye" with David Bailey.
