Synopsis
The revised and expanded fifth edition of "Modern Latin America" offers a survey text for undergraduate courses in 20th century Latin American history and politics. The authors have added socio-cultural sectors and boxes to nearly every chapter, and all political and economic information has been brought up-to-date. As in earlier editions, the authors use an in-depth case study approach that guides students through the major countries of Latin America, highlighting central themes such as European-New World interaction, racial mixtures, military takeovers, and US intervention in the area.
