With Misery Guts, Glietzman gave readers the first of a hilarious and warm-hearted three-part series which concludes with Puppy Fat. The artistic and enterprising young Keith Shipley has no problem using all his talents to try to cheer up his miserable, quarrelsome parents. Nothing seems to work, though, until he has the bright idea of moving the whole family Down Under.
In Worry Warts, the second book in the series, Keith's ungrateful parents, now re-homed in an Australian tropical paradise, are still giving him headaches. But now the problem seems to be a financial one. Once again Keith tries using all his entrepreneurial and artistic skills to put things right. This time it's a question of opal hunting. But will his adventure-packed trip to the opal fields save them all from spending the rest of their lives as "worry warts"? One thing's for sure-- Keith's story is so funny and so entertaining that while you're reading your only worry is when it is going to end. --Tamson Palmer
