Synopsis

Mum makes lunch for baby and decides to play her drums while baby is eating. The rhythm draws the animals to the window and they spy baby's lunch. The animals creep in and baby gives them her lunch - MEW-MEW-MEW says the yellow cat as she eats the cheese, MOO-MOO-MOO says the brown and white cow with its carrot and BOW-WOW-WOW says the brown dog as he gets his bread and honey. Then Mum stops drumming, the animals run out and baby eats a banana - YUM-YUM-YUM!

About the Author

Margaret Mahy qualified as a librarian and has had various appointments in children's libraries. She still visits schools and libraries and is apt to don a green wig - she describes herself as "a bit of an exhibitionist". Her books have been published in many languages and are very popular. She has won the Carnegie Medal twice - for THE HAUNTING and THE CHANGEOVER - and the New Zealand Esther Glenn Award four times. Margaret lives in New Zealand.
