HAROLD LOVE holds a personal chair in English at Monash University, Melbourne. He has published widely on seventeenth-century English literature and on the history of the performing arts in Australia. He edited the Penguin edition of Restoration Verse (1968) and is preparing a new scholarly edition of Rochester.
