Practical environmental management tips
This is my very first book and the first time I am being asked to provide comments about my project. Perhaps, it is best if I start with a comment that one of my contributors shared with me regarding the book. He said that the book provides a lot of practical and useful insight for (both seasoned and novice) environmental professionals that could be useful in both a work and classroom setting. Thank you.
To add to that, if you take the time to scroll down the chapter headings, you will see that each chapter contains information that can be linked to subsequent chapters, and helps to reinforce the topics of previous chapters. My contributors, hand-picked for their unique expertise, each bring to the table their insight and experiences in managing specific environmental responsibilities within each of their respective companies. These individuals include key EH&S professionals from Hewlett-Packard, IBM, EG&G, Lucent Technologies and SGS-Thompson, to name a few, and provide an in-depth look into their organization's activities, not unlike a case study approach. In addition, my chapter dealing with benchmarking studies provides an in-depth review of several stuties along with tips for helping to choose benchmarking partners.
For college professors considering to use my book as a textbook, the book provides a number of case studies that can prompt stimulating class discussions, or can be the basis for a detailed term paper.
Finally, the book's appendices provides additional sources of information that can be of tremendous value to a seasoned or novice EH&S professional, undergraduate or graduate, engineering and/or management university student.
