Book Description Hutchinson, London, 1979. Brown Cloth. Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First Edition. Light wear to jacket edges, some writing on the back. Previous owner's name written inside, pages otherwise clean, binding very good. Contributors include: Kenny Everett, Jon Pertwee, Roy Hudd, Vincent Price, Pat Phoenix, Terry Scott, Vince Hill and Bob Monkhouse. Richard Davis was fascinated by the supernatural, and found that show business people are unusually receptive to these strange experiences and encounters. The contributors to this astonishing collection of real-life ghost stories come from all branches of the theatre; they are actors from stage and screen, producers and directors, writers and commentators, many of them household names, and their stories are as varied as their reactions to them. Jon Pertwee's phantom father and Pat Phoenix's ghostly landlady were friendly, comforting presences, while Thora Hird was nearly strangled and Alan Helm's visitor tried to hurl him out of the window. Bob Monkhouse heard something go bump - and worse - in the night; Roy Hudd found his dream house in a thoroughly disconcerting way, and Telly Savalas borrowed money from a dead man. It is not only old theatres which have ghosts, but also the BBC and Capital Radio, and there are other, even less tangible oddities described by Terry Scott, Kenny Everett, Vince Hill and others. The stories are told as far as possible in the contributors' own words. There is none of the embroidery and distortion of stories told fifth or sixth hand; these are first hand, eye-witness accounts of what really happened, and what it felt like. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Bookseller Inventory # 006265
