John Smiley (Cinnaminson, NJ) is a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) and Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT). He is the President of Smiley and Associates, a computer consulting firm located in South Jersey, and serving clients both large and small in the surrounding Philadelphia Metropolitan area. John's first love is teaching, and it's not surprising that he is also a professor of computer science at Penn State University in Abington, the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, and Holy Family College. John feels that he can teach anyone to program a computer, and he can cite numerous success stories to back up that claim. Bruce Neiger (Merrick, NY) has a degree in Chemical Engineering. His first exposure to C++ was teaching it to himself after college, and relearning it at odd intervals when he had to program in it at work. So things went for applications and teaching until September 1999, when he enrolled in a 12-week online course with Professor John Smiley. Following the course, he asked to "stick around", and has been helping teach and mentor John's online Visual Basic bootcamp and study group courses ever since.
