Some of Hahn's organisational choices seem strange. You can look up Canada directly and find lots of information, but you have to look for all other countries of the world under "Governments: International"--a strange structure. Cross-referencing is lacking, too: You have to look in the index to find out that the wine sites are listed under "food". You'll probably want to use the index if you're doing anything other than casual browsing. In fact, casual (you might say random) browsing is what this book is best for. The author has located some cool resources, and you'll enjoy his guided tour. Scan the print version, or use the index on the companion CD-ROM.
Parents, be aware that Hahn covers all aspects of the Web, and though there's a lot of kid- and general-interest stuff listed here, there's also a little bit about adult subjects (the Kama Sutra, for example, and the infamous Terrorist's Handbook). --David Wall, Amazon.com
Topics covered: useful, entertaining and generally off-the-wall Internet resources (Web sites, Usenet newsgroups and IRC chat channels), organised by subject. Covered topics include personal finance, sports, travel, music, computers--a lot of subjects with wide followings.
