From the Author:
A complete business users guide to Data Mining
Alex and I wrote this book based on our experience - Alex with Data Warehousing at a large New York brokerage house and I with building and deploying data mining engines both for supercomputers with a product called Darwin and with the Pilot Discovery Server - the first data mining engine embedded into both multidimensional and relational Data Warehouses. We wrote this book because we believed that many other books currently available were incomplete - not providing understandable metaphors for how the technology worked, or not extensive enough in scope (hence the 600 pages in our book). We think we've provided a book that covers the key pieces of technology and in enough depth to make sound business decisions beyond the current hype. We hope you enjoy it.
