She was blessed with a gift of temptation.
Violet, Lady Carrington, possesses everything a spirited woman could want out of life. Money (and lots of it). The freedom to make her own choices, with no husband to rule her. And a delightfully attentive young lover, Lord Peter St. Johns, to satisfy her every wild whim. But Peter desires more than Violet's lascivious attentions. He's desperate for her heart—and her hand in marriage.
Yet with a toss of her russet curls, Violet refuses. A man like Peter belongs with a naïve, blushing beauty, not a luscious lady with a talent for sin, and she would rather die than be beholden to anyone. But try as she might, she cannot convince him—or herself—that their tantalizing dalliance is a mere trifle. Perhaps Lady Carrington has finally met her match—a man who will love but not control her, a man who can meet her wickedness with a fierce passion of his own . . .

Most days Lavinia Kent loves her life and knows that she has found her own happily-ever-after with her husband and three children But on those other days (you know which ones!), she is very glad for the wonderful romances, sensuous gowns, and tall, sexy men that fill her mind – and then her computer.
Lavinia lives in Washington, DC, with her family and an ever-changing menagerie of pets. She attended Wellesley College as an undergraduate and holds an MBA from Georgetown University.
What a Duke Wants is Lavinia’s fourth book from Avon Romance. She also has a fun and sexy serial of e-novellas, The Real Duchesses of London, available from Avon Impulse. From Publishers Weekly:
Though set in 1818 London, Kent's debut lacks any real period feel, but it does include a refreshing romantic dynamic: honesty. Violet, Lady Carrington, is a thrice-widowed beauty of 31 who values her freedom as well as her sensual affair with the younger Lord Peter St. Johns. Peter wants marriage, but Violet refuses. She cannot readily admit emotion, and her past relationships justify her caution. Violet suspects her mercenary older brother has pushed their 19-year-old sister, Isabella, to seek a husband, and she determines to protect Isabella even at the cost of driving Peter away. Violet's failure to communicate this plan to Isabella predictably leads to problems, but her conversations with Peter are as articulate and open as their limited self-awareness allows, and this realistic bluntness helps to balance out some otherwise implausible plot twists.
