From the Author:
Talking To You
There's something oddly thrilling about the existence of Amazon.com. We can talk to each other, you, the reader, and I, the writer! So, let me tell you the story about where the idea for MONDAY'S CHILD came from. I'd been writing a literary novel for about six years, and after making the rounds of NYC publishers, receiving a slew of rejections, and generally making my life miserable, I decided it was time to write a novel that would sell, not only to a publisher, but also to you, the reader. We vacationed that year on an island. The first night, I turned to my husband--who is a physician--and said, "I need some help. I want to write a commercial novel and I think you will be better equipped to come up with a snappy idea than I." He took a sip of his pink drink, turned to look out at the glorious ocean, turned back to me, and said, "What if a physician researcher makes a monumental discovery of the drug that will end all human addictions?" I know a great idea when I hear one! My next comment was, "And who would be very determined to block or stop the development of that drug?" You got it! A drug lord. Then, just to make life more interesting, I made my drug lord a first-generation Chinese who'd graduated from Princeton. I hope you find the story a page-turner because that's what I intended, but I also hope you discover characters who seem so real that you might recognize them on the streets of New York City one day. Let me know what you think, please? I'm writing my next book as we speak and I'd love to hear your comments. Most of all, thank you for buying and reading my book!
