Synopsis:

The U.S. may have won the first round in the conflict with Russia in Turkmenistan, but the conflict is far from over. The new president of Russia, former military chief of the general staff Anatoliy Gryzlov, wants a victory at any cost - President Thorn still does not want to get involved in foreign entanglements, especially over oil. Meanwhile, Patrick McLanahan has been demoted to a one-star general and reassigned to his first desk job: deputy commander of operations at the Air Force Air Intelligence Agency (AIA) at Kelly AFB, San Antonio, Texas.AIA's job is to build and maintain The List - the computerized list of targets in every country of the world and possible plans of attack for each and every one. Patrick notices that Russian bomber bases are not getting as much attention as they should be - and he notices that heavy bomber and tactical bombing bases are busier than ever. He tries a number of times to persuade his superiors to give notice to these discrepancies, but he doesn't have solid proof that his suggestions are correct.
