An excellent reference point for the French language

...This dictionary is a suberb reference point for all those who are learning French seriously. Rather than the bilingual translation dictionaries, which although very useful, prevent what this dictionary allows - you learn to reason and define in French rather than just plucking a word out in English. This helps reinforce learning of new vocabulary, especially since you must read the definitions in French. The only qualm I have with this dictionary is the paper - the paper used in the Collins Robert Bilingual is much better, but seeing that is the only complaint I really have, then you can see how good this dictionary is!
