From the Back Cover:

There are few jokers who have spanned so many decades of comedy across such a wide variety of different mediums, than Sir Harry Secombe.

From 'Goon Show' to 'Oliver' he has enthralled a multitude of fans across the world; from 'Pickwick' to 'The Three Musketeers' he has enchanted thousands of Theatregoers; and from 'Highway' to 'Songs of Praise' he has endeared viewers as he takes a deeper look at the meaning of life. Films, television, radio, theatre and even a 'number one' in the hit parade have filled an incredibly busy career spanning fifty years in show business in which he has been enjoyed, honoured, appreciated and loved by millions.

Born in Swansea in 1921, Sir Harry Secombe, CBE, has been an unashamed ambassador for Wales ever since. After a life in the Army he soon found fame in the infamous Windmill theatre in London before embarking on a series of Radio shows which were to make him a household name. His creation of Ned Seagoon in 'The Goons' has become legendary, as has his work alongside Michael Bentine, Peter sellers and Spike Milligan.

Harry's acting career has taken him from successes in London and Broadway to extensive national tours and films whilst his song 'If I Ruled the World' became a number one smash hit and has remained as his theme tune ever since. Endeared to millions for his outstanding work as a presenter on television's 'Highway' and 'Songs of Praise', Harry's faith has always been a private, yet vital part of his personal life.

In 'Celebrating Secombe' Michael Aspel, Ronnie Barker, Fiona Castle, Ronnie Corbett, Bruce Forsythe, Spike Milligan, Sir Cliff Richard, Donald Sinden, Jimmy Tarbuck, Rick Wakeman, Terry Wogan and many more help celebrate the life and outstanding career of one of the most treasured show business stars.
