No. 170 of a limited edition of 500 copies; signed by the author. Illustrated by 160 plates, photographs and portraits (b/w). Consists of a series of articles compiled from letters and diaries written by officers, non-commissioned officers and men of the 21st and 22nd (Cheshire) Companies of Imperial Yeomanry, relating their experiences during the South African War In The Years 1900-1901. Also: articles from the Times, The Times history of the War, and other papers relating to the marches, movements and operations of the two Companies. Post box red (UK) cloth boards with black titles, which are also repeated at the head and tail of the spine. Some blotches/marking and fading on these boards. In addition, there is a tear along the front board/hinge joint which reveals some of the book's binding materials (main image). Other than this the book is generally in a sound overall condition; with mild tanning internally. There is an ink dedication on the ffep (see image which also reveals a little of the reverse side of the aforementioned tear. pp. xxxiii, 434/8vo (super octavo). Map in rear pocket - colour, intact, tanned but in otherwise VG condition - showing routes traversed by the 21st and 22nd Cos, I.Y (image).
