"This is a simple book about carp fishing in the seventies, carp fishing in the days before presentation became a theoretical technical exercise and baits a multi-million pound industry." The story of one man's love affair with one carp water. The book was originally written in 1980 / 81 but its publication was delayed for quite some time. At the time of writing, the author did not want the lake identified so a few details, including its name, were changed or omitted altogether. In 1986 Symak, together with Gary Spencer, managed to purchase the lake and went on to allow a small syndicate to fish it. Elliott Symak was an early member of the carp society and one of the pioneers of winter carp fishing.
