In the 15 years since writer and photographer Rosemary Hutton moved from England to live in West Wales, she has walked many hundreds of miles around the country, rediscovering many of her favourite places as well as new walks of 1 to 3 hours' duration.

The countryside surrounding the River Conwy and its tributaries is today one of the most visited areas of North Wales. The river's source is a shallow lake, Llyn Conwy, in the moorland known as the Migneint. For the first few miles, the river flows in a north-easterly direction almost as far as the village of Pentrefoelas on the A5. It then takes a sharp turn to the west and begins its familiar journey to Betws-y-Coed
