First published in 1854, this is the prototype of the modern street guide to London. It shows a significant stage in the growth of London as both a metropolis and a tourist centre. It features 36 plates by R. Jarman and a gazetteer containing 7000 entries. The scale of the maps is nearly four inches to the mile. The book remains an invaluable key to the London of Dickens and his contempories.
