First edition. Hardcover. Page edges rather foxed, with fainter amounts on the endpapers, otherwise good in very good dustjacket (colourfully illustrated by Fratini), sterling price intact. Made into a frothy youth musical film in 1960. The words underlined in the text are part of the type-setting directions to the printer/publisher (possibly the author's wishes, for emphasis)and occur in all copies. The UK edition, in a handsome Fratini designed jacket, is quite scarce.
