Original Cloth. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Poor. Wanklyn, Joan (illustrator). First Edition. Second impression from September 1953 of a book originally published by Collins the previous month. The boards have a two and a half inch patch of fading at the top of the spine and two one inch long narrow faded patches at the bottom. Small faded patches at the left hand corners of the front panel and around the edges of the rear panel. Browning to the page edges . Two two inch creases across the hinges at the front endpapers and the adjacent pages with a little browning and spotting to the endpapers and the immediately adjacent pages but the pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. The jacket a two and a half inch piece missing at the top of the spine and has some tearing to the bottom half with two small pieces missing near the bottom. The jacket has been repaired with a clear plastic patch at the top of the spine and several pieces of tape across the spine and on the corners on the reverse. Small chips out of the corners and the top edge of the rear panel with five one inch closed tears to the top edges of the front and rear panels. The spine is faded and the rear panel has some surface discolouration. Illustrated by Joan Wanklyn.
Hardcover. Condition: Good+. No Jacket. Second Impression. A good second impression copy with pale blue boards titled in gilt on spine, b&w illstns by Joan Wanklyn. Tight and square, slight fading to spine, a touch of foxing in edges and endpapers, fep removed.
