Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. New York: Norton, 1998. A fine copy in a fine dustwrapper. A lovely copy of this important scholarly work. The book's dustwrapper was applied with title slightly off-center, a minor production flaw. The endpapers are maps of the Southern hemisphere. The author, a noted scholar, presents a comprehensive history of British naval action from the campaigns against the Vikings to the defeat of the Spanish Armada.

Super octavo softcover (VG+); all our specials have minimal description to keep listing them viable. They are at least reading copies, complete and in reasonable condition, but usually secondhand; frequently they are superior examples. Ordering more than one book will reduce your overall postage costs.

First editions both (with the complete number row in volume one and the tiny required # 1 in volume two). Hardcovers. Thick octavos. Volume One has some page edge toning and mild foxing, otherwise fine in very fine dustjacket. Volume Two is very fine in very fine dustjacket. Sterling price intact on both volumes. A masterly modern account by one of the most able of naval historians, and years in the writing. Profusely illustrated with b/w plates, photographs, charts and maps. This heavy pair of books is not economical for posting overseas, and any site default postage does not apply. First editions (first printings) are rather scarce in a pairing.
