Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Stated First Edition. You can see the light green covers in the photos. They are very clean and in very good condition. The six cover edges look terrific. So do the corners. Even the spine ends have escaped wear. The page edges are very clean. The book is square and the spine is straight. The binding is very solid from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The interior of the book is in excellent shape. The pages are exceptionally clean. I didn't see any soiling. I'm not seeing any creasing. There are no markings. No attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. The dust jacket is in solid shape. It has a little bit of wear, a small tear off the top edge of the rear cover just adjacent to the spine, another small tear off the rear bottom edge just adjacent to the spine. There are two tiny tears off the front top edge. There is a small tear off the bottom edge of the spine, as well as a small loss. There is also a loss off the rear bottom edge just adjacent to the rear flap, and that loss extends a little bit onto the corner of the rear flap. There are also two very small punctures, one on the rear cover a little bit above the loss and one on the rear flap just adjacent to the one on the rear cover. Despite these imperfections the jacket presents very nicely as you can see in the first three photos. The jacket is quite clean, though the spine is slightly toned. The front flap is in very good shape, very clean, no wear. The rear flap is also very clean and has no other wear than just referenced. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. I have it in a fitted protective cover. From the jacket: 'A pretty, courageous young widow, faced with the task of bringing up three children and making her way alone in the world is the appealing heroine of this touching love story executed with D. E. Stevenson's characteristic freshness and charm. As in her many other works, D. E. Stevenson has again created a realistic world of the warm, believable people whose company brings delight to the reader.' Referencing Ms. Stevenson's novels, a reviewer from the New York Times Book Review wrote 'Whatever D.E. Stevenson puts her fictional hand to, has certain ineradicable, sure qualities. Humor, lightness of touch, the ability to plot an enthralling story in fascinating surroundings and to create characters that appeal, convincingly, both to head and heart.' Ms. Stevenson's father, David Alan Stevenson, a lighthouse engineer who built twenty six lighthouses in and around Scotland, was a first cousin to Robert Louis Stevenson. D.E. Stevenson's novels were best-sellers, with more than seven million copies printed and translations in multiple languages. She passed away in 1973.
