Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Included. 1st Edition. 12mo (7 3/8 x 5 inches; 187 x 125 mm), 1,143, [1] pages, in blue cloth, titles to spine, in an unclipped, printed dust jacket. Don't be put off by the odd title. There's plenty of interesting content here about post-war Britain and socialism, along with chapters about Germany, the Soviet Union, India, and more. G.D.H. Cole (1889-1959) was an Oxford professor and advocate of democratic socialism. Like other Gollancz titles, this volume carries Gollancz's distinctive yellow dust jacket. In fact, copies in the original dust jacket are scarce to the market. CONDITION: Very Good in a Good dust jacket. Some foxing and soiling to top and fore edges, rubbing to extremities, ownership signature to front free end paper. The dust jacket is age-toned and has a few chips, especially at the bottom of the spine and real panel. Jacket verso has some tape repairs.
