The binding is in maroon cloth with black titles. There is spotting at the top page edge. The wrap is complete and clean, and priced at 5/- on the spine. The spine is slightly darker than the panels and there is a small piece missing from the top edge close to the spine affecting the 'P' of P G Wodehouse. Otherwise there is light edge nibbling with slight loss to the flap fold edges and some surface scuffing down the folds. The latest title on the flap is Nothing Serious. On the verso of the wrap the spine is toned.

First edition of this collection. Twelve short stories, which were originally serialized in the Strand, including: The Custody of the Pumpkin, Company for Gertrude, A Bobbie Wickham Story, and The Mulliners of Hollywood. This copy is supplied with a later issue dust jacket, with an overprice sticker on the spine, and printed with a new list of Wodehouse's works. Written by Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse, an English author and one of the most widely read humorists of the 20th century. In the original blue cloth binding. Externally, very smart with fading to the spine and edges of the boards. Later edition dust wrapper is smart with chipping and tears. Loss to the head of the spine and rear board, with minor loss to the tail of the spine and front board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light scattered spotting to the endpapers. Very Good. book.

The pale blue cloth binding is, as usual, faded to a dark cream on the spine. The boards retain the blue colour with fading round the edges and some spotting - particularly on the front board. The corners are lightly turned. Internally there is a large and flamboyant signature dated August 1938 to the fep. The contents are complete and very clean with the occasional spot to the foredge and some light spotting at pp 154/155. 8 pages of adverts at the rear. The wrap has a sticker for 2/6 on the spine which is covering the original price of 7/6 (still visible if viewed from the inside under strong light). It has adverts for Heavy Weather, Hot Water and Mulliner Nights at 7/6. The jacket is clean with a slightly darkened spine. There is edge nibbling with loss - particularly the back corner of the back panel at the flap fold; across the top of the spine; and at the bottom edge close to the spine. Small loss at flap fold ends. Internally the wrap is toned with some spots. There is some archive tape repair to stabilise edges. The jacket is in a removable protective wrap.
