Book Description: Henry Holt Aand Company, New York, 1940. Cloth. Book Condition: Very Good Plus. No Jacket. 1st Ed, 1st Printing. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Bound in blue cloth covers with bold gilt letters on covers.Light wear to edges along with light soiling. Corners a bit bumped. Illustrated map papers ijnside front and back covers and as end papers. Ink inscriptions (3 separate) with arrows pointing to places with personal comments by owner and dated 1940 date. It is very possible one inscription especially, is presentation text by the author. It has a hard to read signature and has an August, 1940 date. Another inscription in similar but bigger handwriting says:"Here it was very much in love once ---- ---- ---" and with an arrow pointing to Urga. Another inscription says: "I went to high school here -------- - (and so on) with an arrow pointing to P-ahta. This is a very nice copy tat has tight hinges and clean internals.
