First Edition
[Children's Illustrated] FIRST EDITION, sheets bound in publisher's secondary binding. Octavo (20 x 14cm), pp.120. Publisher's patterned blue cloth lettered in blue to spine, illustrated dust-jacket with printed price of 50p to front-flap. Illustrated endpapers, small in text illustrations throughout. Front flyleaf has spotting and glue tears which have been neatly repaired by archival tape, rear pastedown has a small 'London Borough of Barney Library Service' stamp, spotting to preliminaries, toning to edges of textblock, bumping to front board, sunning to top of boards, wearing to edges of jacket, 4 x 2cm tear to rear flap. Very good. This book is made up of the first edition sheets (published in 1955), and the publisher's secondary binding (between 1972-73). The dust-jacket is contemporary with the binding due to its decimal pricing on the front flap. When Peter, Janet and the rest of the Secret Seven have to find a new meeting place, they stumble upon a mystery actually inside it.
