Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Alan Baker (illustrator). First Edition. Ochre coloured end pages. The text is illustrated with single coloured drawings by Alan Baker. Black coloured boards with red coloured embossed drawing of a dog to the lower edge of the front panel; and, red coloured titles to the backstrip. Illustrated dustwrapper, again by Alan Baker, with blue and white coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. Black and white photograph of author to the rear fold over panel. In 1998 the author was invited to the Perth literary Festival, and, as part of the arrangements he was invited to attend Karratha's first literary dinner. Karratha is a mining town, a long way from anywhere  let alone Perth. While he was there the author decided to explore, and, outside Dampier he found a bronze statue to Red Dog  an Australian kelpie. Louis thought this bore needed more investigation  and the book is the result of that investigation. Minor, and I do mean minor, rubbing of the book corners and backstrip corners. Rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels. Full Number Line. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [10], 3 - 119, [1] pages, Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Illustrator: Alan Baker. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Inscribed by Author. Judy Cassab Diaries is a book of her diary entries from 1944 to 1993. The first ten pages describe Judy s survival in Nazi occupied Budapest, while the remainder of the book (500 pages) tells of her new life in Australia and her development into one of Australia s most successful female artists. Having written a dairy since the age of twelve, Judy s entries from before April 1944 were lost during the war. The existing 1944-1993 entries were published by Random House in 1995. Cassab s diary entries are short, sharp and personal. It is indeed unfortunate that most of Cassab s wartime diaries were lost. The reader is left with only a brief sketch of the chaos of German occupied Hungary, followed by an extensive record of the rise and rise of Cassab s artistic career. Dust jacket has a small closed tear to top front flap. 518 pages. Light tanning to pages. Illustrated with colour and black and white photographs. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 1-2 kilos.
