Book First Edition
Paperback. First Ed thus, so stated. SIGNED BY AUTHOR. First Ed thus, so stated. Good+ in Wraps: shows indications of moderate use: fairly heavy spine lean; moderate wear to the extremities; mild rubbing to the wrapper covers; besides the author's signature at the front endpaper, there is also the former owner's gift inscription [signed "pg']; some thumbing to the fore-edge. A structurally sound, tightly bound copy, with a clean text. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. 308pp. Trade Paperback. In Nearing's early career he spoke out about child labor, and was hated on by the controlling forces at that time. Only time would tell how right he was. Yet he spent his entire career being shunned by the universities, just because he would not shut up when he cared about something. Nearing speaks about "avoiding wealth" and "narrowly avoiding getting rich". as if it is a disease or something. He never aspired to become rich, in fact he purposely stopped anything of the sort from happening. Nearing set an excellent example of someone who perseveres in political acitivism, never gives up, and cannot be silenced. When he turned 100 he stopped eating and CHOSE to die, believing that he had lived a full life and did not deserve any more of the earth's resources. This book is full of food for thought.
