This copy is in mint condition unmarked, bright, white tight and square. Bound in tan linen covered boards with brown illustrations by the author / artist and gilt titling to the spine. The book is contained in a fine robust tan paper covered slip case. William Makepeace Thackeray (18 July 1811 24 December 1863) was an English novelist of the 19th century. He was famous for his satirical works, particularly Vanity Fair, a panoramic portrait of English society. This is the sort of book that the Folio Society does well. Margaret Forster, one or our finest authors was commissioned to edit this selection of some of the finest examples of journalism by Thackeray and illustrated by his own pen and ink drawings. In addition to a twenty four page introduction Margaret Forster has introduced many of the selected pieces with biographical notes. (Forster wrote a biography of Thackeray in 1978) Ref T5 Size: 280pp.
