Matt Hughes (illustrator). Urbana: Golden Gryphon Press:, 2008. First printing, Trade paperback, Fine, 313 pp. Cover artwork by: Matt Hughes "Ben Tyson, a librarian, met and loved Valeria, a fairy woman; but her death left Ben to raise their child, Malachi, alone. Now in paper. First printing, Trade paperback, Fine,

Art / Print / Poster
Vintage one sheet poster for the 1949 Realart re-release of the 1934 film. The poster, which features African American actress Louise Beavers, was likely designed for release in Black theaters, as none of the posters from the 1930s featured the film's African American characters. Realart Pictures was a motion picture distribution company founded in 1948, specializing in reissues of older pictures, particularly from the library of Universal Pictures, who originally released "Imitation of Life." Based on the 1933 novel by Fannie Hurst. A daring examination of race and single parenthood, as told through the friendship of two women, one white and one Black. Nominated for three Academy Awards including Best Picture. Remade in 1959, directed by Douglas Sirk, and starring Lana Turner and Juanita Moore. 27 x 41.25 inches. Linen backed and rolled. Very Good plus with some professional restoration and repair at the original folds. National Film Registry.
