Format in-4° ( 30 x 24,5 cm )( 1425 gr ). No Binding. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Size: Frame 74 x 92 cm, print inside mount 55 x 70 cm Condition: Very good condition clean, colours unfaded, new frame and mount. This is a superb large print by a master printmaker of the late 20th century. The print is entitled, in pencil below the etching, "St Catharine's College with acanthus", and it is numbered 150 of 200 and signed by the artist with the date '73. The print is an etching with aquatint, and apart from the striking image and composition it is very interesting for its variety of tone. Walter Hoyle (1922?2000) was an English artist, known for his prints, watercolours and illustration. He was a central figure in the Great Bardfield group of artists and a close associate of Edward Bawden. He taught at the Central School, London, and, for twenty years, at the Cambridge School of Art. His work is held in many important gallery and museum collections and does not come often onto the market.
