Beautiful folio with an English translation of a letter written by General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo (1807-1890) to his sister-in-law, Josefa Carrillo Fitch (1810-1893). 9 1/4" x 12 1/2." Two pages, complete. Very slight wear on the pages. Very clean and intact overall. Decorative, multicolored text and images. Black and white photographic reprint of part of the letter laid-in. Reprinted letter datelined December 20, 1875 in Sonoma. In the letter, Vallejo greets Josefa and talks about her property, Rancho Valle de las Palmas. Summary by Dr. Shumate. Back colophon reads: "150 copies have been designed by Marianne Hinckle for Dr. Albert Shumate on the Occasion of the October 1984 Meeting of the Roxburghe Club and the Zamorano Club." Wesley B. Tanner was the printer of the folio. The illustration on front was by Floyd B. Comstock.
