Cloth, VG. xxii+266pp, sepia frontis & 4 sepia plates by the photo gravure process, 1 etched plate, top edge gilt the rest uncut, cloth a little rubbed, some offsetting from the plates which has browned the page opposite, endpapers browned, a nice copy. Ex libris H A Freeman of Barrow on Humber with their name on the pastedown & Fanny Mills ( from Aunt Agnes ) with her signature dated 1889 on the title. A detailed study of Turner's major venture into printmaking, the Liber Studiorum which he worked on 1809 - 1819 & which contained 90 prints in etching & mezzotint. and was according to Finberg 'the pith of all that is best in his life and work`. 550 grams.

This is a re-issue in two volumes of the 1885 first autotype facsimile edition with the plates re-arranged in Turner's own order of publication and with Stopford Brooke's revised text of his critical notices. An ex-library set with very small paper labels on the front boards, bookplates on the front pastedown endpapers, and minor library marks on the versos of the title-pages; covers scuffed and contents largely disbound but otherwise near Very Good.
