"This is a simple book about carp fishing in the seventies, carp fishing in the days before presentation became a theoretical technical exercise and baits a multi-million pound industry." The story of one man's love affair with one carp water. The book was originally written in 1980 / 81 but its publication was delayed for quite some time. At the time of writing, the author did not want the lake identified so a few details, including its name, were changed or omitted altogether. In 1986 Symak, together with Gary Spencer, managed to purchase the lake and went on to allow a small syndicate to fish it. Elliott Symak was an early member of the carp society and one of the pioneers of winter carp fishing. He fished extensively in the Peterborough area and racked up a long list of 20 and 30lb carp to his name. .
