Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Illustrated by Neil O'Keeffe & Nicholas Riley (illustrator). This book contains a number of stories relating to the American frontier (including Hawaii & the Philippeans) that feature children, animals and young adults. It is divided into 8 topical units, each with a different author and each unit has study questions at the end. There are also a number of color & b&w illustrations accompanying each unit. There are not age recommendations in the book, but it appears to be aimed at upper elementary students. It is provides an interesting look at how the frontier was viewed and covered in schools nearly 100 years ago. Contains an index in the rear. The covers are the original publisher's organe cloth with black spine and cover lettering and a black and yellow illustration on the front. The tips and a small portion of the spine are slightly worn, but this book is in unusually nice conditon with no owner names, bookplates, or interior or exterior markings. ; Unit Activity Reading Series Series; Color & B&W Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 512 pages.
