Card edges a bit worn, covers scuffed, page edges browned, inscription to former owner on page (i), penned notations on pages (i), 26, 32, previous owner's details stamp top right of front fep; a good copy. Memoir of the author's miltary experiences. In 1916, while attending the University of Delaware, he enlisted in the local State Militia and was sent to guard the Mexican border. He returned to Delaware and was accepted in the First Officers' Training Camp, Fort Meyer, Virginia. After a month he was accepted to go and learn to fly in Canada. He was subsequently commissioned, sent to England for further training, and then to France where he served as a Flight Commander in the 135th Aero Squadron over the Western Front.
