Seller: Card Game Books, Stockport, United Kingdom
Book First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. 1st edition softback book in green covers. The rear cover is bright, the front cover slightly sunned and the spine faded. This is an ex-Warwickshire CCC Library copy which has a pasted down slip showing that it was bequeathed by Colin Kendall Langley. Langley played for Warwickshire from 1908-14 but was wounded in action in the War and played club cricket after the War. Seemingly, all his cricket library was donated to the County Club and all bear the same slip. The book is a statistical record for the years shown. (Langley's details can be found on page 255.) A good, tight copy which does not appear to have been consulted often by the members at Edgbaston.
Excellent little history of Sussex CCC, the oldest county team in the world, and home to such legends of the game at Ranji, Duleep, and CB Fry. It also contains a fine portrait plate of Charles Aubrey Smith – first published herein – plus several other rare and early photos. Small 8vo. 132pp. 16 pages of photographs. Dust-wrapper, rubbed with chips to corners. Fair/good condition.
