Originally published as 'Military History for the Staff College Entrance Examination in 1931. It was revised and reprinted in 1934. It was further revised and enlarged in 1952 after the Second World War when the syllabus for this examination was substantially altered and it was re-titled 'The Study of Military History' Ref W2.
